LIKE A WAG The latest brochure from Club 18-30 invites holidaymakers to “live like a WAG” with “bargain designer shopping in Turkey”, where the pound is strong against the lira. Turkey, says Club 18-30, is looking “perky” for shoppers and has “the best kebabs in the world”.

BOMB SHELL The Civil Aviation Authority this week warned passengers not to take “culinary blowtorches, fireworks and other explosives, flares, teargas, petrol, lighter fuel, paint, thinners, weed killer and corrosives such as filled car batteries” on flights. However, its Dangerous Goods Office spokesman admitted: “The majority of passengers know which items cannot be taken on board.”

SLIMY FLIGHTS The Dutch airline KLM will begin testing fuel made from algae in the autumn. It hopes to fuel 50 planes with algae-based kerosene by 2010.

WHISKEY HOLS Northern Ireland tourist officials hope that holidaymakers will follow the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, by visiting Bushmills distillery in County Antrim to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the whiskey.
