British business travellers are more trustworthy than their American, French and German counterparts when it comes to completing their expense claims, a new survey has found.
The study of the expense habits of 400 business travellers, carried out by travel technology firm KDS, found that 21.4% of Americans had cheated on their expenses, compared with 20.6% of French, 16.1% of Germans and 13% of Britons.
However, the survey also found that more than one in 10 travellers in the UK had falsified their expenses to the tune of more than 50 euro (£35). The expense item most likely to be falsified was a taxi receipt.
Yves Weisselberger, chief executive of KDS, said: “In our experience, most business travellers are honest...It is, of course, wholly unacceptable for employees to defraud their employers, but equally they should not be expected to pay legitimate expenses without being reimbursed.”
