London City Airport is still suffering from delays, despite a £30 million investment at the airport in new stands.
Figures released this week by the Civil Aviation Authority showed that almost two in every five flights from the airport are delayed by more than 15 minutes. The average delay for flights from the airport is 17 minutes, a figure that has crept up every year for the past five.
A London City Airport spokeswoman said: The investment in additional capacity that was brought on stream recently has seen a positive improvement on the percentage of delays occurring at London City Airport (up four percentage points from last quarter).
“As the new stands came into operation on 6 May 2008, we expect to continue to see a marked improvement in the next quarter.”
