KLM is to launch flights between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol. The airline will run three daily services using Fokker 70 aircraft, which can take up to 80 passengers, from 29 March 2009.
Pieter Elbers, senior vice president network at KLM, said: “Being the only major network carrier to include Liverpool in its network, KLM further strengthens its position in the UK, one of the most important markets in the extensive network of KLM.”
It is not the first time that KLM has served the route – it offered regular services on the route 75 years ago but these ended in 1939. Liverpool will be the airline’s 15th airport in the UK.
Flights will leave Liverpool at 0615, 1030 and 1730 and return from Amsterdam at 0925, 1625 and 2030.
