Regular business rail travellers on the East Coast mainline are now able to save 10% on their fares by buying a block of ten in advance. Train operator National Express East Coast has introduced the Carnet for ticket for companies and individuals who travel regularly on the same route.
The Carnet is available on key business routes to and from London King’s Cross, including Edinburgh, Leeds and Peterborough, and is valid for a period of three months. Carnets can be bought from the National Express East Coast Business Travel team on 08457 225225, all station Travel Centres on the East Coast route and elsewhere, and via business travel agents.
The ticket will be of particular use for companies with regular business on one route but with a number of different travellers since the Carnet is transferable. The operator claims that travellers who choose the new Carnet ticket to travel from Edinburgh to London will benefit from savings of £252 in standard class and £344 in first.
National Express East Coast sales and marketing director, Rachel Dawson, said: “The introduction of the Carnet ticket is a great opportunity for those using our service for business travel to benefit from a flexible travel option and the added convenience of using the ticket for last minute travel.
“The Carnet ticket also gives great value for money when bulk buying tickets, especially for those who use our trains regularly.”
