Gold members of bmi’s Diamond Club are now able to book complimentary upgrades online as part of a revamp of the frequent flyer programme.
Bmi says it is moving from paper to electronic upgrade vouchers and is to credit existing accounts with four complimentary electronic upgrade vouchers, although existing paper vouchers will cease to be valid from 23 November. Upgrades will be bookable seven days in advance via the call centre. Members of other status levels will also be able to pre-book upgrades on a revenue ticket through the call centre up to seven days before departure for a fee.
The airline is also to introduce family membership for up to eight relatives. Under18s can enroll and have their account managed by the head of the family.
The programme has also been expanded to include new partners including Continental Airlines (after it joined Star Alliance), Brussels Airlines and TAM. Missoni Hotels will also become a partner from 1 December 2009 while Wyndham Hotels will join in early 2010.
