USP Indulgent holistic holiday with loads of yoga on paradise island. One of the most imaginative aspects of LeSport is that, well before you arrive, you can tailor your holiday to your needs.

When you go on holiday the last thing you want to spend your first day doing is organising your week. So beforehand, if you go to their website, you can plan every treatment, every class, and even, if you have dietary requirements or want to embark on a particularly healthy eating plan, every meal.

AMBIENCE The short walk up a hill to the spa is worth the effort. Overlooking the sea, and comprising a swimming pool, a plunge pool, a gym and treatment rooms set around a stone courtyard, it makes the Alhambra look modest.

Here, luxury pampering irons out the pain induced in me any yoga or aerobic exertions that take place below, or in the gymnasium on the side. The treatment rooms are clean and quiet, and there are sunbeds and teas on offer for those who just want some peace and quiet.

EXPERIENCE Not an ascetic affair. Between four hours of yoga a day, given by international masters, you must fit in three superb meals, cocktails and any number of water sports, spa treatments and tourist trips.

As well as offering a range of straightforward facials and massages, the spa also offers some more specialist treatments on offer. The hydralift facial, which combines lymphatic drainage massage and acupuncture, left my feeling younger than it never has before – no oils, just internal glow. It also included a diagnosis of how all my internal organs were working, via the Chinese meridiens, and I left resolute to sort my liver out.

FOOD Although the yoga menu of braised tofu and steamed vegetables would no doubt have been more in keeping with the values of the week, it was no contest when the other options were lobster, steak and chocolate cake.

IN CROWD An international bunch. Most people had come on their own so there was a strong social element to the group. We bonded on the beach by day and on the dancefloor at night.
