AMBIENCE The spa is cosy and intimate. In these former assembly rooms there is a reception area which opens up into a yoga practice space, three treatment rooms and a relaxation zone.

EXPERIENCE I was treated to a foot soak, followed by a massage with frangipani essential oils, and a body scrub using the same oils mixed with organic mung beans. This left a rich, clay-like substance on my skin, which I washed off in a flower-petal bath.

FOOD Just water and herbal tea, but I was offered champagne and delicious handmade chocolates in the bath.
