Adored by honeymooners and high-rollers, the Seychelles aren’t well known for welcoming families. That’s about to change with the opening of the four-star Le Meridien Barbarons, on Mahé, which has tennis, watersports, minigolf, a children’s pool and a club for kids aged 6-12. Summer is the time to go: a week’s B&B costs £1,198 in May, £1,450 in August (under-12s sharing £399/£679), with Elite Vacations (01707 371000, www.seychelleselite.co.uk).

A week, half-board, costs from £545 in May, £992 in August.
