We were away for a week. It seemed like much longer and, although neither of us will ever play golf even after the Norwegian intervention, who knows? I might end my single status by hooking up with a golfer making this hotel an ideal destination for everyone. Even if you ignore the golf this is a great place to unwind and spend time with a teen.

Miranda’s view

I went into this holiday not quite knowing what to expect. The fact that the hotel was not by the beach, and the main attraction was a golf course did put me off slightly. But nevertheless I was looking forward to getting a tan. I had never been to or heard much about the Canary Islands before, but was very pleasantly surprised; the coastal areas, though slightly garish, were fun to visit. But unusually, I found the inland most enjoyable to explore, where, just a short way out of the coastal resorts you were greeted with beautiful scenery and rolling green mountains that would not look out of place in Australia.

What i think impressed me most of all was a chance visit the modern art gallery of Las Palmas where, though completely unadvertised, we found the most broad and fascinating display of videos of everyone from Peaches [Geldof] to Yoko Ono, to a brilliant video of Kraftwerk. An exhibition to rival most in London, this was most probably my favourite section of the holiday.
