Include a brief description (no more than 300 words) why you are nominating the organisation, along with its contact details.
3. You may nominate organisations in one, some or all of the Award categories - but each organisation may only be nominated in one category. You may not nominate an organisation in which you have a financial or family interest.
4. Nominations can be made via the websites timesonline.co.uk/travel or www.responsibletourismawards.com or by letter or postcard, including your name, address and telephone number, to: Responsibletravel.com, Pavilion House, 6 Old Steine, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1EJ. Nominations must be received by July 2, 2007.
5. Times Newspapers Limited (“TNL”) reserves the right to publish nominations (including parts of entries) other than the winning nominations and publication does not necessarily mean the nominated organisation or nominator has won a prize.
6. Nominators will retain copyright in their submitted entries, however, by entering, all nominators licence TNL a worldwide royalty-free perpetual licence to edit, publish and use each entry in any and all media (including print and online) for publicity and news purposes.
7. The winners of the Responsible Tourism Awards will be chosen by a judging panel of Harold Goodwin (Professor of Responsible Tourism Management at Leeds Metropolitan University and Director of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism); Cath Urquhart (Travel Editor, The Times); Justin Francis (CEO, Responsibletravel.com); Sue Hurdle (Travel Foundation); Fiona Jeffery (Managing Director of World Travel Market), Neel Inamdar (Ecotourism Business Advisor, Conservation International) , Andrew Cooper (Director General of the Federation of Tour Operators), Ian Reynolds (former Chief Executive of the Association of British Travel Agents), Richard Hammond (travel journalist and media consultant), Tricia Barnett (Director of Tourism Concern), Debbie Hindle (Managing Director and a founder of bgb communications), Keith Richards (Barrister and ABTA’s Head of Business Development and Consumer Affairs), and Graeme Gourlay (publisher of Geographical magazine). Their decision as to the winner of each category and the overall winner of the Responsible Tourism Awards will be final.
8. Each person who nominated an organisation which won an Award will be entered into a prize draw, which will take place no later than 17 November 2007. The first name drawn at random will win: two weeks for two people on an i-to-i group tour of Uganda. This includes return economy flights for two from London, England; transport and accommodation in Uganda. The prize does not include insurance, but this is compulsory (and can be purchased through i-to-i), and it does not include related taxes, fees and charges. The trip must be taken between November 2007 and the end of June 2008 but it cannot be taken during January 2008.
9. The second name drawn will win a 19-day tour for two people to Nepal provided by The Adventure Company. The prize includes return economy flights from London, England; activities and accommodation, and must be taken by the end of October 2008. The prize does not include overseas airport taxes, or insurance, which is compulsory (and can be bought through The Adventure Company).
10. All costs over and above the basic advertised holiday must be settled by the prize-winner. Prizes are not transferable and there are no cash alternatives. The precise itinerary of the each holiday prize is variable at the absolute discretion of the tour operator. Entrants must have valid passports and will be responsible for any necessary visa applications
11. The names of the two prize winners will be published in the Travel pages of The Times on November 17, 2007, or the earliest possible date after that. Winners must agree to their names and their nominations/entry forms being used for publicity/advertising purposes by The Times, the organisation they have nominated, i-to-i, The Adventure Company, and any other organisations involved in the promotion or administration of the Responsible Tourism Awards.
12. The promoters of the competition, i-to-i, and The Adventure Company, reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal value in the event that circumstances beyond their control make the original prizes unavailable or impossible.
13. Neither TNL nor responsibletravel.com will be liable for any failure of receipt of nominations, or for any nominations that are lost, delayed, illegible, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid. Nominations will not be acknowledged or returned.
14. Any breach of these rules by a nominator will void their nominations. Misrepresentative or fraudulent nominations will invalidate that nomination. The Editor’s and judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
15. TNL and responsibletravel.com reserve the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, in our sole discretion, a competition is not capable of being conducted as specified.
16. Other than death or personal injury arising from the acts or omissions of their or its employees, none of TNL, responsibletravel.com, i-to-i, or The Adventure Company will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of the winner’s (or their guest’s) enjoyment of the prize.
17. Competition rules published in The Times, timesonline.co.uk/travel and www.responsibletravel.com/awards form part of these rules.
