The Bourne-again actor Matt Damon and Haitian-American musician Wyclef Jean have been in Haiti this week organising food distribution to victims of Hurricane Ike - the country has been lashed by four storms in less than a month. It's a pity the boys have had little time for sightseeing - in less turbulent times Haiti is a place of vibrant music, colourful art, voodoo and cloud forests that attract a small number of adventurous visitors.

“We were exploring the possibility of running tours to the Jakmèl film festival,” says Jim Louth, managing director of Undiscovered Destinations (www.undiscovered-destinations.com), “but that has been postponed so we're waiting to see. If there's still enough interest, we might consider alternative tours. Haiti has a lot of potential for adventurous travel.”

Who says you have to go all the way to India to see a magnificent Hindu temple? Just head to London, nip off the North Circular and there is the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, the largest of its kind outside India (www.mandir.org). Visitors are welcome, but it is a place of worship, so don't bring meat, fish, eggs, animal products or booze in your packed lunch.

Night vision

The Singapore Grand Prix next weekend will be the first to be held at night. British fans will be hoping that Lewis Hamilton can improve on his Italian performance last Sunday.
