7.30pm: STATE OF PLAY - expect disruption at most airports in England, not least from knock-on delays due to positioning of aircraft and crew in SE airports. Mainline rail services also likely to be hit, particularly on the East Coast main line, main routes to the South-West and the South-East. Icy roads will further delay travel. 6.50pm: Delays at Newcastle and Birmingham airports - stand by for more disruption. Sky News also has a handy travel website with updates.
6.35pm: SOUTH-WEST - South West Trains are advising passengers not to travel tomorrow - check out the limited service currently available.
6.30pm: EAST MIDLANDS - The weather is on the move. Six of the next seven arrivals at East Midlands airport are delayed and a 5.55pm flight to Prague is now planned to leave at 7.25pm.
6.25pm: EUROSTAR - More rail cancellations for tomorrow. The 6.55am and 5.35pm departures from London - Paris and 9.07am and 5.43pm services from Paris-London are scrapped. Travellers with reservations for these affected trains will be allocated seats on the next available departure.
6.15pm: Both runways at Heathrow open and long-haul flights getting away - plus some short-haul from earlier today. A 9.25am flight to Gothenburg finally took off at 5.07pm and there is currently a last call for a 10.30am flight to Colombo.
6.10pm: LONDON - Transport for London says 100 main bus routes and 1,700 buses now on the roads and a reasonable service hoped for tomorrow.
6pm: YORKSHIRE - First flurry of cancellations for tomorrow ahead of tonight's forecast for heavy snow heading north. Five trains from Leeds to London, the first at 8.40am, are cancelled, as are four in the opposite direction.
5.40pm: Stat attack: Skyscanner.com, has seen a 20 per cent increase in searches for flights to southern airports from elsewhere in the UK and abroad compared to last week, "it suggests that stranded people are frantically trying to find a flight to an airport which is still open," a spokesman told Times Online. But searches for flight from the south are down - "suggesting people are simply writing off travelling altogether and staying put."
