PREVIOUS WINNERS
October
Remember Edward Knight’s photo, of Uros women on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca (first image in the frist set of October nominees — one of our weekly winners) He wins the monthly prize, a weekend at the UK’s first purpose-built eco-friendly hotel, the Scarlett, in Cornwall.
September
Frank Middleton, from Knutsford, won for his photograph taken on Crosby Beach (first in the September gallery, left). "I took the picture of my eldest son with a Canon 400D camera with a 300mm lens. Just before we had been looking at Another Place, Antony Gormley’s 100 cast iron statues facing out to sea."
August
Jennifer Edwards, from North London: "It was taken on our second day in
Mumbai. We were exploring the city, got a bit lost and walked into a housing
estate. The colourful washing strung up across the dull grey concrete made a
drab building come to life. The typically retro-style taxi in the foreground
firmly plants the picture in Mumbai. Colour is everywhere in India, making
the most mundane, everyday things look beautiful and interesting."
July
Frederico Colarejo of St George, Bristol, was the July Citizen Traveller
winner with his startling image of a train station in Rajasthan, India. “I
took this photo while I was waiting for the train at Ranthambore station. I
missed the first train and had a five hour wait for the next, so decided to
have a look around. As I wondered around I noticed a man through the doorway
of the carriage and loved the contrast between him in his crisp white
clothes with all the cramped passengers behind the barred windows.”
June
Ian Scotland from Crawley Down, West Sussex, is was June’s winner with his
dramatic action shot of a rodeo rider, taken at the Tillamook Annual Rodeo
in Oregon, USA.
