They may not have A View to a Kill — but they will have views to kill for. The Goldeneye estate in Jamaica is opening 30 new suites with a James Bond theme next year, 2007 (“007”, geddit?), overlooking one of the prettiest sand bays on the Caribbean island’s north shore.

The suites will be part of a new series of one and two-bedroom apartment suites each named after a Bond film character — such as Miss Moneypenny, Goldfinger, Q, M, Blofeld and Obbjob.

Finishings are expected to be suitably high-tech, with flatscreen TVs, DVD players, stereos, cocktail mixers, remote-control blinds (for those For Your Eyes Only moments, perhaps) and hot tubs. There will also be access to jet skis with stylish, Bond-like Oakley protective goggles, offering guests the chance to zip along the coast to Laughing Waters, where Ursula Andress famously stepped out of the sea in her white bikini in Dr No.

Goldeneye, where Ian Fleming penned all 13 Bond books from 1952 to 1964 (the year he died), is already a chic boutique hotel consisting of a series of villas. Renting the Ian Fleming Villa, which sleeps six and is where Fleming worked, costs from £2,170 a night.

James Bond came to life on February 17, 1952 after Fleming had come back from a swim and wrote the first line of Casino Royale: “The scent and smoke and sweat of a casino are nauseating at three in the morning.”

The finishing date for the suites has yet to be finalised, although it is expected to be “some time in the second half of 007”, says a press spokeswoman. Apartments are being put on sale from around £321,000 for those who want to Never Say Never Again to holidays in Jamaica.
