Ski companies were inundated immediately after Christmas with enthusiasts seeking a last minute booking for a holiday on the slopes over new year. Most were unlucky but those who have time to spare in January will now find plenty of offers available.
Few will beat this one with Skitracer on the dealchecker website: a week from January 10 in a catered chalet in Courchevel in the French Alps from £299, including a flight from Gatwick. The chalet is 180 metres from the Ariondaz télécabine and 200 metres from bars, restaurants and shops.
If you can get to Geneva airport on January 7, Nomadic Ski will collect you for a four-night stay in a luxury chalet in Chamonix. Chalet Eftikhia is minutes from the slopes and comes complete with hot tub and sauna. The price of £345 includes airport transfers, half-board, complimentary bar and in-resort transport. To save time, Nomadic can also book your skis and lift pass in advance and have them waiting for you when you arrive.
Catered chalets at the end of the picturesque Ötz Valley in Obergurgl, the highest village in Austria, are available with Ski Total and Esprit Ski, the only UK operators to offer catered chalets in the resort. A week in Chalet Alpenblume from January 18 costs a family of four £1,195 with Esprit Ski and Ski Total's Chalet Christophorus starts at £499 a person for a week from January 25. Both offers include flights from Gatwick and transfers.
