Win VIP tickets

I bought two tickets for Ryanair's Stansted/Deauville service, going and returning in April. I now hear rumours that the route has been abandoned. It is not shown on Ryanairs's website any longer. However, my money has not been refunded and I have received nothing from Ryanair on the subject by email or otherwise. I have spent a lot of money trying to phone Ryanair on their premium rate line and am yet to get through. This is becoming absurdly expensive. These flights are important to me and I need to know what's going on. David Thorpe, by email
A response from Ryanair: We announced this last week and have since been contacting all passengers to inform them of the route cancellation. This process was completed last week, and all passengers will receive a full refund.

My advice for David Thorpe (Times Online February 16) is to demand compensation and don't give up. Our route - Frankfurt Hahn to Marrakech - was abandoned last October and we were notified a week before we left (we had paid for this non-existent flight four months before). . We needed to get there as we had already prepaid expensive hotels. It was unbelievably difficult to find alternative flights as it was half-term week. To say we were incredibly inconvenienced is an understatement, not to mention the extra expense. However, yesterday we were finally awarded significant compensation from Ryanair - the maximum we were allowed under the new EU legislation. They took no notice of my first registered letter, but paid up after I took our case to the German civil aviation authority responsible for ensuring airlines abide by EU law.
