My daughter is flying from Stansted to Venice for her honeymoon. The flight lands at Treviso airport, but she is still keen for her husband's first view of Venice to be by water-taxi and is considering travelling to Marco Polo airport in order to do this. Sunday Times travel expert, Richard Green, responds: Sitting back into the cushions of a vintage speedboat, as you skim across from Marco Polo airport to St Mark's Square is about the most romantic airport transfer in the world. And for that special first glimpse on your honeymoon, there's no reason to miss out just because you are flying into Treviso.

Treviso airport is inland and 10 miles north of Venice, so as there is no public transport between the two airports, you just need to jump in a cab when you arrive. It shouldn't even take half an hour, will cost about £35, and you can book in advance on 00 39 0422 431515.

Public boats leave hourly from the boat jetty next to Marco Polo airport and cost £8 one-way (information from www.alilaguna.it). The 70-minute journey calls at Murano, the Lido, and finishes at St Mark's Square. But for the total Talented Mr Ripley experience, a water taxi will cost £65 and takes you right to your hotel.
