What's the best way to visit both Minorca and Malta in a week? I want to visit some sites in Admiral Nelson's history and can't find out who flies between these two places. Kate Coltman, London

Sunday Times travel expert, Richard Green, responds: It's a cinch getting from London to Minorca and from Malta back to London, but the third part of the triangle is a bit tricky, as there aren't any direct flights from Minorca, or anywhere else in the Balearics, to Malta.

Your best alternative is to fly from Minorca to Barcelona, Valencia or Gerona, from where there are direct flights to Malta.

Iberia (0870 609 0500) flies from Minorca to Barcelona and Valencia, and Spanair (0870 1266710) flies to Barcelona and Gerona. Each have one-way fares from about £17.

A good way of finding out who flies between two particular places is Jumble Fly, which highlights the above direct flights from northeast Spain to Malta. Look at Ryanair (0871 246 0000) from Valencia and Gerona, and Clickair (00 800 254 252 47) and Air Malta (00800 66 222 111) from Barcelona. Ryanair fares from Spain to Malta start at £7 one -way.

Another good way to discover who flies into a particular airport is to visit the airport website, in this case www.maltairport.com ­ they will always have an up to date list of who flies where and at what times.
