Is there a decent hotel at Stansted airport? I've booked a cheap flight that leaves at the crack of dawn, but on reflection I should have paid more to fly later. Anyway, I'd at least like to stay near to the airport terminal. Russell Brindley, Lincoln

Sunday Times travel expert Richard Green responds: Pick of the pack is the Radisson SAS Hotel (01279 66 1012), which is less than five minute's walk from the terminal building, connected to it by a covered walkway. It has 500 good standard rooms, with three restaurants, a spa, pool and gym, and the centrepiece Wine Tower Bar.

Behind the bar top is a 43ft high glass wine rack, which soars into the atrium. It holds 4,000 bottles, and attractive female bar staff (attached to harnesses) are plucked skywards to pick out your chosen bottle - a bit of bizarre Vegas-style bling has arrived in Cambridgeshire.

Doubles start from £89 B&B. There are park and fly deals too ­ a night plus four days parking from £125, and up to 15 days from £155.

Best of the budget brigade is the Express by Holiday Inn (0870 400 7308), with 254 comfy rooms, and rates from £69, B&B. A shuttle bus takes about five minutes to the terminal and costs £2pp.

Other safe bets include the Manor and Groves Hotel (01279 600 777), or try the Hilton (0870 590 9090), Best Western Stansted Manor (01279 859800), De Salis Hotel (01279 817821) or Chimneys Guest House (01279 813388)
