I am getting married next year and we would like to do a safari for our honeymoon. I have read that the lower Zambezi is great for water and land based safaris. Could you recommend a couple of luxurious camp or lodges that might suit us? We plan to go in June. Emma Langley, London

Sunday Times travel expert Richard Green responds: You have picked a top spot to honeymoon in. Zambia isn't a cheap destination, but you are getting a dream honeymoon in exclusive lodges, where the quality of the guiding and wildlife viewing is unparalleled ­ and you can enjoy vehicle-based wildlife viewing, walking safaris or heading out on a small boat.

Chiawa Camp is the perfect lodge for you. Its public areas overlook the Zambezi, and the rooms are huge and luxurious. The honeymoon tent is ridiculously romantic, with a king size bed, indoor and outdoor showers, and a roll top bath overlooking the Zambezi, of course. You're welcomed by bubbly and roses and enjoy a plethora of private feasts ­ a picnic lunch, a candlelit dinner on a pontoon boat moored on the Zambezi, and a breakfast drifting down the Zambezi too.

And for a splash of slightly more rustic living, there is the charming four-room Old Mondoro camp nearby, which is owned by the same people, and specialises in thrilling walking safaris.

Or if you want to take in the Victoria Falls too, you could split your time between the upper and lower Zambezi. It's busier by the falls, but you can still slip away on a dawn or sunset boat trip, take high tea on Livingstone Island, and witness the magnificence of the falls.

Rainbow Tours (020 7226 1004) has a ten day trip from about £4,600pp, with two nights in a cottage at Tongabezi Lodge, two nights on its private Sindabezi Island, all meals and drinks, boat trips, guided canoeing, lunch on an island, visit to the Victoria Falls, and a game drive, and then five nights at Chiawa Camp as above.

For something a little less pricey, Expert Africa's eight-night Honeymooners' Safari gives you two nights each at four luxurious Robin Pope Safari lodges, two near to Livingston and the falls, and the rest split between riverside lodges in the South Luangwa National Park. There is a romantic meal at each, either on the water, by the riverbank, or on your own veranda, and the nights at Tongabezi Lodge, Livingstone, is in a honeymoon house.
