I have visited India several times and I am now planning my next trip ­ turning into something of an Indiophile. Do you know if there is there somewhere that has talks and presentations on the country, like a cultural centre? Peter Barling, Croydon

Sunday Times travel expert Richard Green responds: Yes, there is the Nehru Centre in London, the cultural wing of the High Commission of India, which aims to foster a "continuous, varied and meaningful dialogue between India and Britain". In practice, that means anything vaguely "cultural", from music, dance, theatre, films, lectures, seminars, book launches, exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, photographs, jewellery and costumes.

The centre was established in 1992 and is located in an 18th century building in Mayfair - 8 South Audley Street. The auditorium can seat about 130, plus there are two galleries and a small library.

There is also the Bhavan Institute for Indian Art and Culture (4a Castletown Road, West Kensington, 020 7381 3086), with an art gallery, events hall, and courses in Indian dance, music, art, language, and yoga.

If you are interested in a particular country, it's worth checking to see if they too have a cultural centre in the UK.
