My husband and I usually take a holiday on the Greek island of Rhodes each year, but since XL Airways folded, we are finding difficulty in getting suitable flights there. Do you know what our best options from Manchester are? Jennifer Walsh, Oldham

Sunday Times travel expert Richard Green responds: You are in luck, as there are several airlines planning to fly direct from Manchester to Rhodes for this summer season.

Low cost-wise, Jet2.com (0871 226 1737, www.jet2.com) already flies from Newcastle to Rhodes, and is adding flights from Manchester and Leeds Bradford, from Wednesday May 20 Wednesday May 27 respectively. Fares start from £69 one-way, including taxes.

Alternatively, there is a new seat only tour operator launching this summer, called Kiss Flights (0871 737 4155, www.kissflights.com). It is due to serve 11 holiday destinations, and includes flights from Manchester and Gatwick to Rhodes. However, from Manchester they operate once a week, on a Wednesday (from May 6 to October 21), and the flights leave the UK at the ungodly hour of 5am.

A good tool to use when searching for which low cost airlines fly to and from particular destinations is www.jumblefly.com. And for charter flights, look at the Charter Flight Centre¹s web site, which has full details on all the charter airline routes, at www.charterflights.co.uk.

Other airlines flying to Rhodes include Easyjet (www.easyjet.com; from Gatwick), And Flythomascook (www.flythomascook.com; from 15 airports, including Manchester, Belfast, and Cardiff), and Monarch (08700 40 50 40, www.monarch.co.uk; from Manchester and Gatwick).
