We need some inspiration for our honeymoon. We want it to be our perfect two weeks, so any potential destination has a lot of boxes to tick.

Can you come up with any ideas based on the following: travelling in August; within one long-haul flight of Heathrow; large, long, deserted white sandy beaches; temperature 25-30C, luxury resort with friendly and attentive staff; choice of excellent restaurants serving fresh, local cuisine within walking distance of the resort; an emphasis on relaxation but with opportunities for getting out and experiencing local history and culture; cost up to £2,000 per person? Julia Brookes, The Times Travel Doctor, replies: I've come up with two possibilities and a nifty way of boosting your budget. Thirteen nights at The Residence in Mauritius in August starts at £1,725 per person with Rainbow Tours. The hotel is very spoiling - all marble bathrooms and butler service - and set on a beautiful long beach at Belle Mare.

It has three restaurants, which use fresh local produce, and there are others near by (but you'd have to get a taxi) and there are local markets and botanical gardens to visit. It's the dry season and the temperature would be about 25C.

Alternatively, you could get 12 nights in a standard room at Breezes in Zanzibar for £1,987pp through Rainbow. This would tick all your boxes apart from the fact that you'd have to take a 30-minute flight to get there from Dar es Salaam and that it's not quite as long as two weeks. Now for the clever bit. By booking a honeymoon costing £3,000 or more through Rainbow, part of Western & Oriental, you qualify for the Honeymiles service, which you could use to ask your wedding guests to upgrade you to a deluxe room, or buy extra nights.

A Honeymiles consultant will guide you through setting up your own site and then guests can pay for points that can be used for all sorts of honeymoon treats. Beats being given six identical toast racks any day.
